Press Release - Traction Engine Rally

Fire and Brimstone at Quainton

20th 21st September 2008
The smell of sulphur and steam will fill the main arena at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre’s 8th Vintage Steam Engine Traction and Vehicle Rally as these engineering giants trundle past in display.  Their smaller brothers and sisters also get a chance to demonstrate their paces during the course of an action packed day.
Terry Petty, owner and organiser, “The rally field at the centre is a fabulous setting to run and display them at their very best.”
In the rally field and also in the Visitor Centre will be a wide variety of craft stalls for all the family and Mix 96’s famous inflatable adventure playground.
There are attractions for the whole family, a 1km miniature railway in a site of outstanding natural beauty, a children’s fun fair, free train rides behind historical steam engines, an outstanding railway museum with activities for children and a large collection of steam engines, rolling stock and other vehicles.  Uniquely a hand turned Victorian Children’s Roundabout provides everyone a glimpse into our past heritage.  This 27acre site offers everything for an exciting day out and everyone including the children will go home sleepy and happy.
The Rewley Road visitor centre provides undercover viewing of historic railway vehicles including a Castle class Steam engine and two famous coaches. Allow time to browse in the popular Secondhand Bookshop with its excellent selection of books to suit all interests and pockets. A refreshment room and gift shop completes this memorable steam experience.
The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre’s Traction Engine Weekend promises great days out for all. For enquiries about the Rally contact, : 01296 655720 (weekdays 9.30 to 4.30) or email office@bucksrailcentre.org
